A) About cows:

I. The most common pathologies:

In the calfs:

-(1.) Parasitism: there are 3 types of parasitic animals; pinworms, tenias and coccidias, this parasitics. The calfs suffer some symptoms like diarrhea, anemia, weakness and dehydration.

-(2.) Black leg: this illness attack to the young cows, since 3 months until 3 years. Is produce by a bacteria. The symptoms are: inflammation in the rear legs, in the back or in the chest, some times another muscles or the throat are inflammation too, or even doesn’t appear any symptom.

In the adult cows:

-(3.)Mastitis: is the inflammation of the mammary gland, cause for bacterias. The older cows have a propensity to get it.

-(4.) Tympanism: the rumen produces flatulences that has to be expulsed, and if doesn’t happen, the gas will be accumulate and it’ll produce the tympanism. The symptoms are: abdominal swelling and breathing problems.

At any age:

-(5.) Antrax: is produce for a bacteria and characterize for a sudden death. Also attack to dogs, pigs, goats, sheeps and humans.

This website is about a company wich helps people with special needs through equine-assisted therapy.  I think this is a great plan and would be more people who wants to help other people. The therapy with animals is always a good choice, must be a good experience for the animal, the therapist and the person who needs the therapy.

Dog breed selector: Black and Tan Coonhound 

The Black and Tan Coonhound was the original First Dog — George Washington had several of these puppies. Early American colonial settlers valued the Black and Tan Coonhound's ability to track a “cold” scent or the trail of a long-gone animal. Talented hunters, this breed has tracked down bears, deer, and mountain lions.

These are fast dogs with floppy muzzles and an acute sense of smell, designed not only to track but to tree their quarry. Their long, droopy ears pick up and help waft the scent to the Black and Tan Coonhound's nose.

Though they're best known for their hunting abilities, Black and Tan Coonhounds also make for friendly, cheerful, easy-going family companions. Some also compete in the show ring.

Originally from the United States, this medium-sized and moderate-energy breed can grow to between 65-110 pounds and lives an average of 10-12 years. The breed is recognized by the American Kennel Club and classified as a member of the Hound group.

Shows that attract my attention

1. Monsters inside me: I guess some people would feel disgust about this program, but i think that everyone should see it, because talks about parasites that any person could have. This program give us a (or more than one) lesson.

2. The Aquarium: For the name we can perceive about the theme of this tv show; aquatics animals. I like so much the aquatics animals and i recommend this show to know the different species that exist and how interesting they are.

3. My Cat From Heaven: Well, if you love cats like me, defenitely you must watch this show! In this programs the protagonists are very specials cats, that have like a 'don' and help the humans in different areas, they are cat angels.

What do i want to be a vet?

When I was a child, I wanted to be so many things; I wanted to be a teacher, a doctor, a secretary, even a president, I wanted to be a vet too, but only a cat doctor, because I was afraid of dogs.

I had other options, like Biology with Mention in Environment, or Nutrition and Dietetics. Sincerely I didn’t choose until October of last year, when I came to FAVET. I fell in love with this place, I felt a good atmosphere and I realized that I really wanted this, although some people thought that I wasn’t made for this career.

My experience at the university until now has been great. Well, I recognize that when I came into this career I was very afraid, and sometimes I still feel afraid, because some classes are difficult to me, but then I remember why I am here.

      

      

      

I don’t know yet what kind of work I would like to have. When I  applied to Veterinary Medicine I wanted to take the postgraduate course of Kinesiology, or the postgraduate course of Nutrition. For now I’m still thinking about the first option, but also I started to consider working on doing scientific research.

Funny videos of cats

⇨I love cats, I think that they are so cute and funny. Sometimes, when i’m bored, i like to see funny videos of them, that videos make me laugh a lot. I remember that since I was I child I watched so many times this types of videos with my family. 

Koko, the gorilla

⇨Koko was a gorilla born in the San Francisco’s Zoo. She appear in some documentaries and two times in The National Geographic. She learned more than 1.000 signs and more than 2.000 words in English. For her 44’s birthday, she receive a box with cats, she choose 2 and she adopted them. Here’s the video.

Consome Panchi

⇨This is a weird (but so much funny) video. The first time i watched this video was when i had like 10 years, i remember that me and my brother can't stop to laugh  and we sang the song of the video to our cat, who’s called Panchi.

Important events

September 2000

My twin brother and i were born in Santiago, Chile. I was born one minute after than my brother, and i was the last child that my parents had.

March 2006

I started school. That was my first experience in a place with kids of my age (except for my brother), because i don't went to garden or something like that. I don't remember if i cried or not aha.

June 2010

In that year i got my first pets, turtles. They were a gift from a teacher, to me and my brother.

December 2011
I got my first cat (i was wishing one for a long time). Well, she was a gift from my sister's boyfriend to her, but that cat became to a member of our family and i love her so much. 

This is she, the first day in our house. She called Panchi.

March 2015

I started high school, where i met my best friends. I miss them a lot, although we spoke almost everyday.

June 2017

I started a relationship with my best friend <3.

January 2018

My mother bring a cat to our house, the intention of my mom was feed and take care of her, and after that, look for a home to her. But for reasons of life we kept her, and she became one of the loves of my life. 

She calls Nunu, and is a very curious and funny cat.

May 2019

I met my other love of my life; Mimi. She is another cat that my mom brought to our house, but this time, the reason was because Mimi was lame, her paw looked so bad and she was very skinny. I fell in love the first moment i saw her.

Actually she run and jump for the house without problems (and have more weight) :')

My favorite thing

➮My favorite thing is my computer. I bought it on September of last year, in my birthday. Before it, i had another one, but my cat threw it to the floor, and after that, my old computer doesn’t turned on. I felt bad for some months, until my dad gave to me a new computer.

                                     

➮I use my computer for everything, some hours at week. Lately i have been use it for study, i usually watch videos of a subject and then i look for a guide to practice. But sometimes i use it for watch videos or listen music, or simply navigate on my social medias.

                                   

➮I love my computer, but i know that i shouldn’t pass so many time on it, and i try to do it, because it’s very bad for the vision and the brain.

                       

➮I think i could live without my computer (i did it the last year aha), in the sense of recreation, but i guess i will need one for important things of the university or work.

What's my opinion?

What is your opinion about recycling?

➮I think that recycle is a good idea, but cannot be overexploit; we should reuse 

before recycle, and we should try to use less the plastic, because recycle 

pollute and most of things can be use for one more time.

                                     

What is your opinion about legalization of abortion in 

the 3 cases?

➮I agree with the legalization of abortion in 3 cases, but i prefer the free 

abortion. I think that womans should decide about our own bodys and our 

future, no matter how we got pregnant. Also sometimes i think the '3 cases' are 

violents and agoist.

  

What is your opinion about buying instead of 

adopting pets?

➮I completely disagree about sell (and buy) animals. They should be free and 

humans can't take their life. The animals (commonly dogs and cats) can't be 

exploit only for the human benefit. They are so many stray animals who wants 

(and need) love and a place to live.

  

What is your opinion about animal testing?

➮I completely disagree with the animal testing. Around one year ago I’m trying 

to buy products that are cruelty free, and also I have been investigate about it 

(animal testing). Once I read about the effectiveness of the experiments, and 

the percentage is very low (about 35%), is better use other medium, like the 

artificial, or humans (voluntarily).

                               

About me

➮My name is Sandra Meriño, and I’m 18 years old. I was born in Santiago, Chile. I started to study at Escuela Presidente Roosevelt, and finished my high school at Liceo Bicentenario, both located in Cerro Navia.

➮This is my first year studying Veterinarian Medicine at Universidad de Chile, and also is my first career. I don’t have a work, and I never worked. But now I’m an assistant at Veterinaria El Roble.

➮Until now, I’m happy with my choice, even though sometimes I think in what happen if I choosed another carreer, another university, or if I didn’t have an enough mark in PSU.

➮My family are form for my mom, my sister and my twin brother. I live with my mother and my brother.  We have a cat and three turtles.

 This is my cat one year ago. Her name is Noo Noo (like the vacuum cleaner of The Teletubbies, because she eat everything!) 

➮I like pop music, I love going to concerts and listen music. I like read too but almost never do, because the series of Netflix and youtube catch me.

In 2017 i went to a concert of my favorite band, Five Seconds Of Summer.
